The Choice of Champions

Few places resonate with more of a sense of sheer pleasure and challenge than playing a round of golf at Chateau Élan.  Three tournament quality courses, each possessing signature characteristics of beauty, tradition and shoemaking strategies, atmosphere and service combined with Georgia’s top teaching and practice facility takes one’s golf experience to memorable heights.

The Chateau

This beautiful 7,030-yard, par 71 Chateau course, with contoured fairways, three lakes and two creeks, opened in July 1989.  Designed by Denis Griffiths, the championship layout was instantly recognized as one of the top courses in Georgia.  Water comes into play on ten of the 18 holes while 87 bunkers lend challenge and character to the lush fairways and bent grass greens.

The Woodlands

Also designed by Griffiths and opened in 1996, many consider The Woodlands to be the most picturesque of the three championship layouts.  The stunning 6,735-yard par 72 course has numerous elevations presenting memorable views of sparkling lakes, and tree-lined holes to give players a blissful feeling of solitude.

Executive Walking Course  9 Hole  Par3

This stimulating course provides a perfect venue for the golf enthusiast when time does not allow a full round.  Located behind the Inn at Chateau Élan, the attractive layout features beautifully landscaped holes, strategically placed bunkers and small bent grass greens.  Holes vary in length from under 100 yards to more than 200 yards making it ideal also for beginners and young children.  Group rates are available.  Clubs available for rent.  The Par 3 is open 8AM – sunset.  Please call 678-425-0900 ext. 6148 for more information and tee times.

Hours, Dress Code and Tee Times

The Chateau and The Woodlands courses are open to the public daily from 7AM – sunset.  Proper golf attire is required: shirts with a collar and no jeans please.  We are a soft spike Golf Club.  Tee times may be made seven days in advance for the public play and 120 days in advance for resort guests.  Groups should coordinate through the Chateau Élan sales department or call the pro shop for details.  Tournaments are always welcome and inquiries should  be made to our Golf Sales office at 678-425-6909.

Our goal is to make your golfing experience at Chateau Élan an outstanding experience, and one you’ll want to repeat again and again.  Our staff is dedicated to serving your needs from the time your clubs are transported from your car to the cart, until you hole your last putt.

The Legends

The Legends, a private members only golf club, is the masterpiece of celebrated golf greats Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead and Kathy Whitworth.  Each selected six of their favorite holes from around the world, then crafted each hole with its unique shotmaking requirement onto The Legends layout.  Golf enthusiasts will be excited to find such recognizable holes as the 12^th and 13^th at Augusta National, The Postage Stamp at Royal Troon and the 18^th at Merion.  The Legends has limited access for resort guests and corporate groups.  Please contact the Golf Club for private membership or more information at 678-425-8653.

The Golf Academy at Château Élan

Instruction form the Golf Academy at Chateau Élan is fun, affordable and enjoyable for the finest learning experience in golf.  From beginner to expert, the Golf Academy has a variety of programs to improve your game including:  Total Game, Full Swing, Short Game and Playing School Golf.  Golf Schools are offered April through October.  Individual instruction is always available from a number of instructors.  Creation of unique, corporate outings and clinics for groups, clubs, Chateau Élan guests, and junior programs are also available.  For more information contact the Pro Shop at 678-425-6050.

Director of Instruction

Director of Golf Instruction, Tom Ness, was for 20 years, the head golf instructor of Golf Digest Schools, teaching at Chateau Élan for the past 11.  Ness has authored numerous instruction articles for Golf Digest Magazine including “How to Upgrade Your Impact”, “Slam the Door on Your Slice”,  “Putting for Profit”, “How to Hit Longer and Straighter” and “Getting Started Right”.  An exceptional teacher, Ness began his golf career under the tutelage of Davis Love, Jr., and has taught players from each of golf’s major tours.

Group Tournaments and Corporate Outings

Looking for the best place in the southeast to host your tournament or corporate event?  Specializing in professional planning of corporate outings, our staff will organize everything including tournament formats, scoring, cart signs, and even prizes or custom gifts for your participants.

At Chateau Élan, we host annually over 400 tournaments and corporate events.  Our Legends course is the former home of The Sarazen World Open.  For four consecutive years, The Chateau course has hosted the LPGA Club and Teaching Professionals Tournament.  Major Corporations have chosen us to host their events because of our outstanding hotel and conference center.  If you have 20 to 400 to play golf, Chateau Élan can accommodate you with our 63 holes of Championship golf.  Contact our Golf Sales office at 678-425-6909.

Chateau Élan’s golf club catering sales team can also help you design any menu from a barbecue or box lunches to a sumptuous banquet.  The club’s climate-controlled pavilion lends itself beautifully to awards presentations, luncheons, cocktail parties or elegant banquets for groups large or small.

If you can’t make it to the links before the sun goes down, take part in Chateau Élan’s night golf for groups.  The Par 3 course hosts the evening attraction and marks the holes with lighted flagsticks, glow markers and tiki torches.  Each golfer is provided with glow balls, clubs and flashlights.

St. Andrews Bay
